Cartels: Hell in Mexico
In some respect the Mexican drug problem is the result of the Colombian successful war
on the Cali, and Medellin drugs cartels in the 1990’s. (Tomas, Pipitone, 2010). Dude to this
incident this all started and slowly increased all over Mexico and the United States of America is
now causing lost lives. Millions of dollars of drugs are transported daily in to Mexico and into
the United States. Mexican and Colombian drug trafficking organizations generated somewhere
in the range of $17 billion to $38 billion annually in gross wholesale proceeds from drug sales in
the United States. (Tomas, Pipitone, 2010). All this money that is being produce by drugs say
that multiple governments are not really making a change to stop the killing of innocent people
and the millions of dollars of drugs being transported in to the United Stated and Mexico. The
united states and mexico are trying their best to stop those that decide to make the
government look bad or those that kidnap the innocents and kill/ torture them for money. The
current drug war climate in Mexico and in the United States causes a breakdown in families,
overall fears, and an increase in drug addiction.
Drugs are now being transported to the United States and causing the drug war to
expand. Joaquin “El Chapo” (“The Kid”) Guzman is now one of the most powerful drug lords in
the world: “neither the government nor the priests will ever be able to take on “El Chapo”.
(Mario Loyola, 2009) One of the drug dealers that tend to kill for the drugs and or territory are a
group called Los Zetas. Los Zetas, originally a group of deserters from the Mexican special
forces. (Tomas, Pipitone, 2009). This group of people has been a problem to Mexico and in the
United States because of their trafficking of drugs and the mass killing of those who are
innocent. Those that are los zetas are very trained and are the ones that tend to carture/torture
the people for money, drugs and territory the Sinaloa cartel just wants to transport there drugs
without hurting anyone except those who fail or interfere with their movement.“Mexican
newspaper reforma, there were 6,587 drug-related murders in 2009 in Mexico, up from 5,207
in 2008 and 2,275 in 2007. During January and February 2010, there were more than 1,500
exexusions according to reforma”. (Tomas, Pipitone. 2009). According to the Mexican
newspaper they assumed that by 2009 the killing will increase by 1,500, we are now in 2012
and the killing for each day in Mexico increased up to 200 deaths a day. This evidence is
important because I shows how that every day the numbers are increasing in the deals
transported, how the killing plays a big role in this drug war and the communication that the
United states have with Mexican.
Millions of people are being killed every day/year due to the drug war. Last year there
were many assassinations happening all over Mexico. Over 5,500 people were killed due to the
drug war in Mexico. There were nearly 6,000 drug-related assassinations in Mexico in the last
year, about double the prior year’s number, heavily concentrated in areas where cartels clash.
(Mario Loyola, 2009). Most of the places in Mexico where these incidents happen are in
Michoacán, Guadalajara, Tijuana, Sinaloa, Monterrey and more. Those who go missing due to
the drug war increasing are the ones that mainly are involve in the cartels. Tijuana Mexico is
one of the most dangerous places to live in Mexico now a day. This place has no heart what so
ever if they see anyone trying to ruined their plans of attack or if they decide to transports a big
package to the united states they 100% find that person and kill him/her or even the whole
family to really put their message across .Tijuana one of Mexico’s most violent cities, with more
than 1,200 assassinations last year. At least 300 families there have reported missing persons,
many streets that once teemed with American tourist are now deserted.( stout, 2012) This
evidence is important because the increase of death has really increased by a lot.
Due the war with the drug cartels going on, people tend to no go out or do anything in
the evening. People do this because maybe some of their family members have been killed or
captured so they don’t want to risk anything. People even get killed by surprise or even on their
sleep; the killers or the gunmen will terminate anyone they see. ”gunmen went to the home of
the grieving family, killing the hero’s mother, two sisters, brother, and aunt as they slept. If your
involve in any cartel, the only way out is death.(Tomas, pipitone,2009). People who don’t pay or
finish the mission they are in, they will be terminated in any way shape or form by a gunmen.
People now a day move away from their homes and try to stay out of dangerous situations or
spots that they can get hurt in. what people try to do to prevent this from happening to their
families is by trying to move to the united states for a better quality of life. Even people that try
to attack /plan a move to defeat a cartel or a certain member gets find and killed or torture to
death. Many families try to keep the young once alive because the cartels will captute them to
take their organs and sell them for money or use the child to sent drugs secretly to places to
seem he is innocent.“in may 2007 gunmen assassinated José Lugo, Mexico’s coordinator of
information of the center for planning and analysis to combat organized crime”. (Stout, 2012)
Ever since the drug war has increase by a lot, more people are getting involve in this
easy money business. The more people get involved in this business, people would get hungry
for money, assassinate and or execute anyone for the money. The cartels want the young kids
to join because those are the once that want so they can start learining at a young age in how
to kill, torture or transport the drugs to the united states. “Drug-associated killings became
so frequent that by 2008 mexican newspaper La Jornada grouped daily execusions and
assassination reports under a single back page headline. Gunmen get called for businesses for
example they put money on someone and their objective it to kill that one person for millions
of dollars. In 2009 people or those who write the newspaper for Mexican government reported
21 kills a day. “ during the first eight months of 2009 they reported an average of twenty-one
killings a day. “ by 2010 the average number of drug-associated deaths average nearly forty a
day. (stout, 2012). This is important because Family members or people they know might be
involve in these cartels maybe decide to convince them to enter an easy way of getting money,
or some just do it because they think is cool, forced or they are afraid that they might get killed
and that’s how the cartels gets their people to do their business.
thousands or even millions of families get separated every year due to the drug war
with cartels in Mexico. People to also sent a message decide to kill for fun or even kidnap a
child to get money and then give the child back dead. This happens because the cartels really
want their territory to be for them and those that decide to not follow the orders of they will
terminate you just for the addiction of drugs they have with Mexicans and the united states.
“most of the founding members are now dead or in prison, and in many cases, top-down
leadership had disappeared altogether, giving a way to atomized, horizontal structure, fleeting
alliances, and chronic intramural conflict. (Loyola Mario, 2009). This shows that both
governments are trying to really capture or kill the king of the clan/ cartel. Knowing that the
governments are actually doing something proves that they do care for what is happening.
People that have any involvement in the drug cartels get killed every time just to get
easy money. Those who are from big places of Mexico decide to make all this drug war happen.
“The Guadalajara cartel and similar groups traditionally move the Columbian drugs
north”(Tomas, pipitone, 2010) this shows that the Columbians and Mexicans are working
together to transport the drugs to the unites stated to get more money and to try to get a good
profit on cocaine and marijuana. “ but during the 1990’s as a more chaotic arrangement began
to take shape, the Columbian and Mexican trafficking groups established a new deal allowing
the Mexicans to receive a percentage of the cocaine in each shipment as payment for their
transportation” (Tomas, pipitone,2010). Therefore these two cartels that are ganging up on the
governments are really trying to get there businesses up and running as fast as possible to gain
billions of dollars as try to win respect in many cities around the Mexican government. In week
or even a month people join cartels to become something bad in life. “ina short time it had
evolve into an armed group with some 1,200 members, both men and women, capable of
deploying significance fighting forces across mexico.” ( tomas, pipitone, 2010). This shows that
people every week or so try to get easy money for a while and if they don’t do the job right the
only way out is death or running away but they’ll be find sooner or later .
In conclusion I believe that ever since Pablo Escobar the king of drug business in the 90’s
really is affecting everyone in governments, Mexico’s and the United States government. The
reason I say this is because after his death he opened peoples mind in how drug transportation
can really give you easy money and millions if you know how to do the job right. The united
state government is doing everything possible to stop the Mexican cartels to transport any type
of drug to the United States government and cause any danger to our society. While the
Mexican government is the one most in danger is trying to really put some time in effort to stop
all the killing and transportation of drugs into various countries in the north. Not only has the
war between cartels and the various governments has increase in drug transportation but the
massive killing of people that are involve and or innocent. So I think that the drug war is the one
that is driving everyone crazy and just decide to do whatever they want to get their name up in
the top of the sky and say that they are the real boss of this cartel or the world.
